Updating CICADA
You update CICADA by uploading a signed update file in the web interface.
Get the update file
- Sign in at cicada-ir.ai/account (see Your account).
- Choose the file for your appliance's architecture:
x86_64for the OVA, QCOW2, VHDX and Proxmox appliances. The file is namedcicada-update-<version>-x86_64.cup.aarch64for Apple Silicon. The file is namedcicada-update-<version>-aarch64.cup.
- Settings > Updates in CICADA shows your appliance's architecture next to the installed version.
- Check the SHA-256 shown next to the file against your download.
Install it
- In CICADA, go to Settings > Updates.
- Upload the file.
- Press Install. You need your password and authenticator code.
Appliances older than 1.84.24 cannot install update files. Install the new image and restore a backup instead.
What happens during the install
The appliance does these steps in order:
- Checks the vendor signature.
- Unpacks and tests the new version.
- Stops CICADA.
- Saves a snapshot of its data.
- Switches to the new version.
- Starts the new version and checks it is healthy.
CICADA restarts during this. The page keeps checking until it is back.
If the new version does not start
Within five minutes the appliance switches back to the previous version and its data on its own. Settings > Updates says that this happened.
If an update is held, see Troubleshooting.
